Srinagar, Mar 10: The General Body Elections of the J&K Amateur Baseball Association were conducted at Hotel Jehangir, Srinagar, under the supervision of Mtr. Omera Farooq, Advocate J&K High Court, who acted as the Returning Officer and Election In-Charge.
According to officials, the elections were held for a four-year term (2025-29) and witnessed the participation of representatives from various affiliated district units across Jammu and Kashmir. The process was conducted in line with the rules and regulations of the Amateur Baseball Federation of India and the J&K Amateur Baseball Association.
Following the elections, Sheikh Riyaz Ahmad was elected as the Chairman, while Raju Sharma secured the position of President. Gh Hassan was elected as Senior Vice President, with Aruna Jamwal and Gulzar Ahmad assuming the roles of Vice President for Jammu and Kashmir regions, respectively. The position of General Secretary was taken by Bilal Ahmad, whereas Firdous Ahmad was elected as Treasurer. Additionally, Faizan Gulzar was appointed as the Joint Secretary for Kashmir, while Mashooq Ahmad was elected as Joint Secretary for Jammu. Several executive members were also elected as part of the association’s new body.
The election process was monitored by Harish Kumar, Secretary General of the Amateur Baseball Federation of India, who was deputed as an observer to ensure transparency. Officials stated that the elections were conducted in a free and fair manner without any disruptions.
Following the announcement of results, the newly elected office bearers extended their gratitude to all stakeholders, including the Returning Officer, media representatives, and officials, for ensuring the smooth conduct of the elections.
Meanwhile, the association has reiterated its commitment to promoting baseball across Jammu and Kashmir, improving infrastructure, and providing a platform for young athletes to excel in the sport.
