Srinagar, November 17, 2024 – Sheikh Mohammed Imran, a prominent political figure in Jammu and Kashmir, has strongly rejected baseless claims regarding a purported raid on his residence by the Income Tax (IT) department on the night of November 16, 2024. Imran labeled the reports as “outright fabrications” and condemned them as a prime example of yellow journalism. In a statement issued earlier today, Sheikh Imran declared, “These allegations are completely false and have no basis in fact. No such raid took place, and these reports are an attempt to damage my reputation and credibility.” He further expressed his concern over the media outlet responsible for propagating these claims, accusing the journalist behind the report of having questionable affiliations.”Let me be clear,” Imran added, “this is an orchestrated smear campaign. The journalist involved, known for his ties to both the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is part of a larger effort to malign my name. These individuals have a documented history of publishing false stories and retracting them later, which makes their credibility highly suspect.”Imran did not shy away from taking a firm stance against what he believes is an ongoing attack on his character. “I will not be intimidated or silenced. My work speaks for itself. I have always stood up for my people, and I will continue to do so without fear or compromise,” he said. The former legislator also raised concerns over the role of certain figures in the media, suggesting that the allocation of government accommodations to journalists with controversial backgrounds could be influencing the narratives they produce. “It’s important that the public knows about the connections between certain media figures, political parties, and government resources. This raises serious questions about the transparency and integrity of our journalism,” Imran stated. In a call for accountability, Sheikh Imran urged the Jammu and Kashmir Police to immediately investigate the false reports. “I ask the authorities to look into these misleading claims and take necessary action. This type of false reporting must not be allowed to continue unchecked.”Imran concluded his statement with a strong declaration of his legal intentions. “I will be consulting my lawyer to issue a formal notice to these media personalities. A defamation suit will follow. No one is above the law, and I will do everything necessary to protect my name and reputation.”As the controversy unfolds, Sheikh Imran’s call for action has sparked a wider conversation about the role of media in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly regarding the accountability of journalists and the influence of political affiliations on the news they report. This story follows the tone and context of local Kashmir media, emphasizing both the denial of the allegations and the call for transparency and legal action. The headline is designed to be impactful and align with typical local news coverage.
