Srinagar, April 22:

The Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden continues to welcome thousands of visitors with its vibrant spring colours, as the Department of Floriculture has officially extended access to the public until April 24. The garden, located at the foothills of the Zabarwan range, remains one of the Valley’s prime attractions, drawing admiration from tourists and locals alike — many of whom are now requesting an extension of the season.

Despite challenging weather conditions earlier in the season, the caretakers have maintained the floral displays with tireless effort, allowing the tulips — especially the late bloomers — to thrive. Visitors describe the garden as “magical” and have praised the department for preserving its charm.

Director Floriculture Kashmir told Awami Reporter, “We are pleased to keep the garden open till April 24. Our teams have worked day and night to maintain the garden’s standard and ensure every visitor has a memorable experience.”

Tourists from across India have expressed their awe and urged the administration to consider extending the open dates further.

Deepanshi Chopra, a tourist from Mumbai, shared her heartfelt experience:

“Walking into the Tulip Garden in Srinagar felt like stepping into a real-life painting. Waves of red, yellow, pink, and purple tulips spread out under the clear sky, with the snow-capped mountains standing quietly in the background. The view looked unreal, with the scent of flowers in the air, and colors everywhere you looked. I even held a pigeon for a photo — something I didn’t plan but won’t forget. Definitely one of those places that makes you pause and be grateful for the beauty of nature.”

Rahul Sharma, another visitor from Mumbai, added, “It’s an unforgettable experience. The blooms are still vibrant — extending the opening by even a few days would give more people the chance to witness this beauty.”

Nikhil, a solo traveler, remarked, “This garden is the soul of spring in Kashmir. A short extension would be appreciated by thousands who are still planning their visits.”

The garden will continue to welcome visitors until the evening of April 24. Whether the administration grants further extension will depend on weather conditions and bloom viability, but for now, Kashmir’s floral paradise continues to enchant all who walk through it.
