Youth engagement in political and social spheres is essential for building a healthier democracy and better leaders: Imran Shah

“Affirms NC’s commitment for development of Anantnag”

Anantnag, July 27: Reaffirming the National Conference’s commitment to the comprehensive development of Anantnag, senior NC leader and Vice District President Imran Amin Shah on Sunday emphasized that the party, under the visionary leadership of Dr. Farooq Abdullah and JK Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, is dedicated to transforming the historic town along modern developmental lines.

Speaking during a tour of the Sarnal area, Shah expressed serious concern over the prolonged neglect of the locality, particularly under previous administrations. He remarked that despite its historical significance, Anantnag — and Sarnal in particular — has been sidelined in terms of development, with some political figures exploiting local residents for personal gains rather than working towards genuine public welfare.

“It is unfortunate that citizens were forced to repair roads and lanes from their own pockets due to a lack of proper municipal allocations,” Shah said, describing the situation as a gross failure in basic governance.

Imran Shah urged the local administration to accelerate development works in the area, particularly under Capex funding, with a focus on improving inner lanes, drainage systems, sanitation, and ensuring safe infrastructure.

Imran Shah also made a clarion call to the youth of Anantnag to actively participate in the democratic process. “Youth are the torchbearers of our future. Their engagement in political and social spheres is essential for building a healthier democracy and grooming future leaders,” he added.
