Traffic Update: Jammu-Srinagar NHW Open for Passenger Vehicles, Caution Advised
Srinagar 05/05/25 (JKNN) Passenger vehicles are currently moving smoothly from both sides on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NHW). However, Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs) or load carriers are being allowed to ply only from Jammu towards Srinagar.
Authorities have issued a strict advisory for commuters to maintain lane discipline, as overtaking could lead to traffic congestion and unnecessary delays. Travelers are also strongly advised to plan their journey during daylight hours for safety reasons.
Particular caution is urged in the stretch between Ramban and Banihal, where there is an apprehension of landslides and shooting stones. Passengers should avoid halting unnecessarily in this vulnerable zone.
Meanwhile, the Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri (SSG) Road will only be opened for traffic movement once the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) gives a green signal based on road conditions. However, Bhaderwah-Chamba Road, Mughal Road, and Sinthan Road remain closed due to unsafe conditions. Travelers are requested to stay updated with the latest advisories before planning their routes.
