Shah condemns restrictions on political leadership on 13th July martyr day.
Anantnag, July 14:: Condemning the recent restrictions imposed on the observance of Martyrs’ Day (13th July) and the house arrest of mainstream leaders, Senior National Conference leader and Vice District President of Anantnag, Syed Imran Amin Shah, stated that such dictatorial actions are against the spirit of democratic values.
Imran Shah emphasized that, as part of the world’s largest democracy, such measures are not only undemocratic but also deeply disappointing. “The 13th July Martyrs’ Day commemorates the sacrifices made by our people in the struggle against oppression and tyranny. It also marks the beginning of our journey towards secularism and integration with the Indian Union,” Shah said.
Shah was speaking at a public function held in Bangidaar, Anantnag, where he was briefed on several pressing public issues. He assured the attendees of swift action and redressal on the spot.
Reiterating the importance of historical memory, Shah added, “Remembering our freedom heroes is a fundamental democratic right. No amount of suppression or force can stop us from paying tribute at their graves or from honoring their legacy.”
