Pahalgam, August 14:
In a resolute action against encroachment, the Pahalgam Development Authority (PDA) on Wednesday carried out a demolition drive in the Hukhard area of Pahalgam, pulling down multiple illegal constructions despite continuous heavy rains.

The operation, led by CEO Hilal Ahmad Jerry, targeted large-scale unauthorized structures that had come up in violation of building norms and environmental safeguards. The team also stopped attempts to raise a fresh structure near the riverbank close to the Pahalgam Golf Course.

“This should serve as a clear warning to all violators — PDA will not allow any illegal construction in Pahalgam. Whether it rains or shines, action will be taken without discrimination,” said CEO Hilal Ahmad Jerry.

According to PDA officials, the crackdown was part of an ongoing enforcement drive to protect the region’s fragile ecology and prevent unregulated construction. Further inspections will continue, and any attempts to rebuild will be met with immediate action.
