In an unprecedented and hard-hitting statement, the Grand Mufti of Jammu and Kashmir has issued a final and uncompromising warning to so-called faith healers, fake peers, and self-styled “aamils” who are exploiting religion to deceive the public through black magic, occult practices, and superstition.
The Grand Mufti categorically stated that these elements are preying on innocent and vulnerable families, looting them financially while pushing households towards fear, hatred, psychological trauma, and social breakdown. Such individuals, he said, are not only violators of Islamic Shariah but are also criminals against humanity itself.
Condemning the misuse of religion for personal greed, the Grand Mufti emphasized that those who lack religious knowledge yet masquerade as spiritual healers have become a dangerous social menace. By spreading fear of black magic and so-called supernatural threats, they are poisoning homes, destroying trust between family members, and exploiting human suffering for monetary gain.
He made it unequivocally clear that anyone found involved in this immoral and deceptive trade will face strict social, moral, and legal consequences. These individuals will be publicly exposed and named, ensuring that society is made aware of their fraudulent activities and intentions.
The Grand Mufti has also issued a strong appeal to the public, urging citizens not to remain silent spectators. People have been asked to actively spread awareness against fake faith healers, share verified information and evidence about such individuals with concerned authorities, and fulfil their social responsibility by standing against exploitation and deception.
“This initiative is aimed at cleansing society of fraud, superstition, and exploitation, and at protecting families from moral and psychological destruction,” the statement read. It further stressed that deception in the name of religion, reason, or law will no longer be tolerated.
The warning, issued through the Advisor to the Grand Mufti of Jammu and Kashmir and Head of the Social and Political Affairs Department, marks a decisive step towards restoring religious integrity, safeguarding public trust, and confronting an entrenched network of spiritual fraud operating under the guise of faith.
