Mehraj Malik’s detention under PSA a setback for democracy lovers: Imran Shah
Lauds CM Omar Abdullah’s intervention, urges LG and Home Minister to revoke PSA
Anantnag, Sept 14: National Conference leader and Vice District President Imran Shah on Sunday said the detention of AAP MLA Mehraj Malik under the Public Safety Act (PSA) has dealt a blow to those who believe in democracy.
While disapproving of the MLA’s public conduct and his language against the Deputy Commissioner Doda, Shah said the matter should have been dealt with under the relevant provisions of law through the Assembly Secretariat instead of invoking the PSA.
Imran Shah, lauded the efforts of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for his immediate intervention in the case and called for a united approach by all political parties in Jammu and Kashmir to safeguard democratic values. Shah also urged the Lieutenant Governor and the Union Home Minister to intervene for the revocation of the PSA order.
Meanwhile, Imran Shah continued his public outreach programme in Anantnag, visiting Donipawa, Teilwani, Odussa and adjoining areas. During his visit, he demanded flood protection measures and raised concerns over sanitation issues in the region.
