NC Leader Imran Shah Demands Urgent Assessment, Relief for Flood-Hit Shopkeepers in Anantnag; Calls for Probe into PDP-Era Drainage Failure

Anantnag, August 28:: National Conference (NC) leader and District Vice President Anantnag, Imran Amin Shah, has strongly urged the administration to undertake an immediate and comprehensive assessment of the damages caused by recent floods in Anantnag town, particularly focusing on the heavy losses suffered by local shopkeepers.

Shah demanded urgent relief measures for the affected population and emphasized the need for long-term, futuristic planning in the drainage and infrastructure sectors to prevent such crises in the future.
Imran Shah squarely blamed the previous PDP-led government for the current infrastructural failure, particularly pointing to the drainage system constructed during their tenure. Shah accused former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti of promoting nepotism and corruption by awarding contracts to her relatives, which, according to him, led to the complete failure of the drainage system in Anantnag.

“Despite the expenditure of crores in the name of development, the PDP’s claims have turned out to be hollow and superficial. The town today stands submerged and devastated due to poor planning and corrupt practices,” Shah during his tour to Ganjiwara, Achabal Adda, Khah Bazar, General Bus Stand and Mehendi Kadal area to assess the onspot situation post flash flood situation, said.

Shah further added that the PDP regime’s hallmark was making grand claims while engaging in favoritism and promoting family businesses at the cost of public welfare. This, he said, has had devastating consequences for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly for the residents and traders of Anantnag.

Imran Shah urged the government to not only provide immediate compensation and rehabilitation to the flood-affected families and business owners but also to initiate a transparent probe into the failure of the drainage infrastructure. He called for a holistic development plan aimed at restoring Anantnag’s historical and economic glory on a priority basis.
